The immediate worries are tariffs and shipping concerns.

And yes, tariffs are significantly affecting disposable vapes, primarily due to increased duties on products imported from China, where the vast majority of these vapes, the juice inside, and their components are manufactured.

Here’s a breakdown of the situation as of early May 2025:

• Substantial Tariff Hikes: The U.S. has imposed hefty tariffs on Chinese-made vaping products. Reports indicate that cumulative tariffs have reached rates as high as 79%, with some sources even mentioning figures up to 170%. These tariffs apply to all Chinese-made vape devices, including disposable vapes, batteries, and other components.
• Price Increases for Consumers: A direct consequence of these tariffs is a noticeable increase in the retail price of disposable vapes. For example, a vape that previously cost around $20 could now be priced at $35 or more. Businesses along the supply chain, from importers to retailers, are likely to pass most of these additional costs on to consumers.
• Dominance of Chinese Manufacturing: Well over 90% of disposable vapes sold in the U.S. are manufactured in China. And if it weren’t for the efforts of Fifty Bar (made and juiced in the U.S.) it would be 100%. The lack of significant domestic manufacturing alternatives means the market is heavily reliant on these imports, making the impact of the tariffs particularly pronounced.
• Supply Chain and Market Impact: Retailers and distributors are facing higher costs, which could lead to some reducing inventory or even some brands exiting the U.S. market. There are also concerns that significant price hikes could push some consumers towards illicit or black-market vape products.
• Impact Extends to Hemp Derived Vapes: The tariffs also affect vape hardware used for hemp (farm bill) products, leading to similar concerns about increased prices and supply disruptions in that segment of the market.
• Ongoing and Potentially Volatile Situation: The trade policies and tariff rates have been described as volatile, with the potential for further changes. This creates uncertainty for businesses and consumers in the vaping market.
• And we can’t forget the FDA which has been seizing disposable vapes at the ports as “illegal” 

The bottom line here is that pricing hikes as well as availability could be major concerns sooner, not later.

South Carolina Vape Ban Update

In 2024 there was a bill introduced in South Carolina to ban vapes. It died in the senate. In 2025, the house expanded it and and sent it to the senate again, but due to numerous amendments, they tabled the bill until January 2026.

Not great news, but it does buy us some time to continue the fight. Speaking of fighting….if you’re not a Noble Vapor customer, ask your favorite shop what they have done to oppose a bill being pushed through by Big Tobacco.
